Past experiences

2016年(53)

I started to find it difficult to concentrate if someone talked to me while driving.
After transferring to a new department at work, I had more cases where I could not tell where my documents were stored.
It became difficult to explain things or answer questions in an orderly manner while making presentations at work.
I needed to take a breath and think to complete tasks that I used to get done instantly.
I was more often blamed by my juniors and superiors by making mistakes at work.

Diagnosis

2017年(54)

In April, my manager recommended that I take a regional task. I made mistakes in the task, and my manager was angry at me every day.
In August, a senior colleague who had a relative with dementia discussed my condition with my manager, and the manager recommended that I consult a doctor.
I visited a nearby specialty hospital but was referred to a more specialized hospital in Tokyo.
I was hospitalized for two weeks and diagnosed with dementia.
A social worker at the hospital gave my wife the "Juvenile Dementia Handbook" prepared by the Health and Welfare Bureau of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. My wife found a day service provider and a family group in the handbook. She also found and joined a group of people with dementia.

To eliminate social prejudice against this disease and make the world a better place to live, I would like to convey, through lectures and interviews, that we, with the disease, will not suddenly go from 100 to 0. There are things we can still do and contribute to.
