Past experiences

2014年(76)

My daughter noticed on several occasions that I was unable to find my wallet or tickets before going on trips.
My forgetfulness became noticeable. When I forgot to make a money transfer, my daughter became concerned by learning that I had completely forgotten about the fact that I had been asked that. I felt uneasy about it myself and had a brain scan upon my regular medical check-up.
I continued to be vice president of the town association and president of the local history club.

2014年(76)

I went to an outpatient forgetfulness clinic with my daughter and had a Hasegawa test and an MRI scan.
I was told that, although MRI imaging showed some atrophy in the brain, it was still too early to start medication.

Diagnosis

2017年(79)

I visited another doctor and started to take dementia medication.

2017年(79)

I obtained a nursing-care certification. My doctor recommended that I use day care services, and my daughter and I visited several places. It seemed to me that people who were too old to move around were using their services. I felt that I did not want to go there and do exercises with others that looked like children's games.

2018年(80)

I started to go to a day service a year and a half ago. I started with once a week. I was thankful that the staff there took very good care of me. People from the day care accompanying me, I continued to attend the meetings that I had been attending. It was fun to talk with my old friends.

2019年(81)

I suffered a lumbar compression fracture and began receiving medical care at home. I was certified for long-term care level 2. The only opportunity for me to talk with anyone other than my family members is at day the day care because I stopped participating in community activities.
I also have the tendency to worry too much and lock the door immediately, close the curtains all the time, and so on.
