Past experiences

2014年(76)

I have been continuously working in accounting for many years.
From my family's perspective, they could sense some change in my facial expression, such as looking blank or not making eye contacts, but since the conversation remained the same as usual, neither I nor my family paid much attention.

2016年(78)

I had some trouble figuring out how to start my car. I began to think that my car may have broken down.
I was prompted by my daughter to see a doctor but did not seek a diagnosis, thinking that I would be just fine.

2017年(79)

I started to experience mistakes that I had never made before, such as forgetting to make phone calls to people I work with or making errors in paperwork. (My daughter gradually realized something was wrong when she was helping me with my work at the same office.)
My daughter urged me to see a doctor, but, again, I did not seek a diagnosis and continued to live my life as usual.

Diagnosis

2018年(80)

I renewed my driver's license but gradually stopped driving because I no longer knew how to start the engine.
I resigned from my accounting work because I could no longer complete the paperwork.
I visited another hospital specializing in dementia, received counseling and medical examination, and was diagnosed with dementia
My daughter consulted the welfare center, had an MRI at another hospital, and obtained a nursing care certification.
I visited with my family a day service facility recommended by my care manager. I liked the atmosphere and started to go there.
